Phablet War: Samsung Galaxy Note 3 vs LG G pro 2!

The LG G pro 2 is a great device but is it good enough to defeat the king of the phablet line? Without wasting your time,  Let's find out which is the best phablet in this indepth comparison of the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and LG G pro 2!

Samsung Galaxy Note 3 vs LG G Pro 2

DESIGN AND BUILD.

If you are a Metal body lover, you are going to be disappointed here as both the devices feature a plastic build which is not really that great!

Both feel solid in the hands, but the Note 3 offers a little more grip, thanks to its faux-leather textured back. Opinion on Samsung's fake stitching is split, but some people will find it a little bit too tacky for their tastes.

Samsung Galaxy Note 3 vs LG G Pro 2On the other side, the G pro 2 looks like the streched version of the LG G2 with the same button layout on the back which can take time to get used to but fortunately you can also unlock your phone by tapping the display.

The G pro 2 also features those LG slim bezels that look gorgeous and can be considered as a pro!

But choosing winner here is quite difficult as both the phones have something that the other just misses. The Galaxy note 3 has a better grip while the G pro 2 looks better. So, it is up to you here which one to choose.

DISPLAY.

Both the phones rock the 1080p resolution that looks great on either device.

Despite each stretching a 1080p resolution over more than 5 inches of screen, you'll have no sharpness complaints. Obviously the fact that the LG has the bigger display - 5.9in to the Samsung's 5.7in - means it has a slightly lower pixel density (373ppi versus 386ppi) but the difference is unimportant in daily use.

The important factor to look out for here is the Tech used for the display.

The Note 3 sticks to Samsung's preferred Super AMOLED tech, which means deep, true blacks and vivid colours. LG has instead retained the G2's IPS+ LCD screen; LCD displays tend to serve up purer whites and more realistic colours than their AMOLED counterparts.

While I do appreciate the Full HD display of the Note 3, colours on the G pro 2 look much more realistic in real life.

So, the winner here is the LG G pro 2.

HARDWARE.

Both the phones come with all the connectivity options and micro SD support, so you won't really have a problem in storage on either device.

Samsung Galaxy Note 3 vs LG G Pro 2 - Other features 2But the one place where the Galaxy note 3 gets an advantage is the Stylus availability! Sure you can buy stylus from another source for the g pro 2 but it won't be deeply integrated in the OS and you miss all the Features that it brings with it.

On the battery side, Both the devices surprisingly come with a 3200mAh removable battery but they don't quite match up in the battery life.

While both the phones can get you period of a 1.5 days on little heavy usage, the Note 3 gives you a little more hours when we compare them together.

SOFTWARE.

Here, we have again two different android skins with different benefits and it won't be easy to choose one!

When we talk about the android versions they come with, the G pro 2 already comes with the Android kitkat while on the note 3, you get Android 4.3 jellybean which can be updated to android kitkat.

Whereas on the Skins department, both come with highly customized skins of their own and Both have their own quarks.

The Note 3 gets Samsung's TouchWiz interface in all of its cartoony glory, and if you can manage to forgive it the garishly in-your-face design it has plenty of nice features.

Samsung Galaxy Note 3 vs LG G Pro 2

Probably you won't use this features after a while but as I am supposed to mention them, they include: a FlipBoard-powered stream of all your news and social updates which is not quite rapid and you would probably end up using Flipboard again;

MultiWindow, which lets you view two apps simultaneously; a shrunken down display option for one-handed use; Smart Rotation, which automatically adjusts the screen's orientation to match that of your face; Quick Glance, which lets you wave your hand over the Note 3 when it’s locked to summon notifications; Story Album for arranging your snaps; S Health for tracking exercise.

Samsung Galaxy Note 3 vs LG G Pro 2On the G pro 2 however you get the popular KnockCode, The ability to customise shortcuts for the front touch buttons is also welcome, as are Smart Stay (which keeps the screen on while you're looking at it), Content Lock (which sets a second password for specific photos, videos and notes) and Dual Browser, which pretty much does what the Note 3's MultiWindow does.

Slide Aside - which lets you access frequently used apps with a three-finger swipe - merely annoyed us a little. Oh, and like the Note 3 there's a Mini View mode which shrinks the display down so you can use it easily with one hand. Unfortunately, it won't shrink the handset at the same time.

The Winner here is also totally up to you with both coming with a features rich software and you won't regret choosing either.

PERFORMANCE.

Now when it comes to performance, both phones are great performers whatsoever.

The G Pro 2 and Note 3 both have identical quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 brains, along with 3GB of RAM to help them run hordes of apps simultaneously. These processors don't really sound the latest but they are not bad and can run anything hands down!

You won't really have a problem on either device and will have a lag free experience.

CAMERA.

Both the Note 3 and G Pro 2 have 13MP rear cameras. Both devices can record 4K video at 30fps, 1080 video at 60fps, and slow motion 720p video at 120fps.

Both really look same on paper but that's not the case in real life.

Samsung Galaxy Note 3 vs LG G Pro 2

Both phones no doubt capture great images in good and sufficient light but the challenge comes in low light.

Samsung Galaxy Note 3 vs LG G Pro 2With the OIS+, the LG G pro 2 captures great ( acceptable ) photos in low light with lesser noise and less grainy images. While on the other side, there is no OIS at all on the Note 3 and it's camera is no good in low light!

Like the Galaxy S5 and HTC One (M8), the G Pro 2 also lets you refocus on different parts of a shot after you've taken a photo. LG calls this Magic Focus, and in use it works pretty well. To get the most from it you'll need plenty of space between foreground and background - not to mention steady hands - but it's a nice feature to have.

In the camera depart, LG G pro 2 clearly wins with better shots in all light conditions.

TO SUM UP..

Both the phones are a great deal in all aspects but on the LG G pro 2, you get better camera, screen and more premium build but on the Note 3, you get the S pen, a little better battery life and more importantly a cheaper price to pay!
Decision is on you now which one to choose as you know all the pros and cons.

The Finale: The Nokia lumia 1320 vs the HTC desire 816!

In one of my comparisons, I declared the Nokia lumia 1320 as the best mid range phablet in the market but now the situation is changed when it comes to competition as HTC launched their 5.5 inches desire 816 retailing at the price of 24k!

The desire 816 already won in its comparison with Sony Xperia T2 ultra in my recent article and now it's time for the final battle of the best mid range phablet! Let us begin!

While on the brighter side, you do get price benefit when you opt for the Nokia lumia 1320 which is retailing at the price of 20k! But we are going to compare them head to head!

DESIGN AND BUILD!

At first glance you would've thought that the HTC Desire 816 was a high profile handset. At 156.6 x 78.7x7.99mm and 165.5g it's is surprisingly comfortable to carry around. In fact, it is slim and light for a phablet. On the downside, the phone is made out of polycarbonate plastic rather than lush aluminum, unlike the HTC One M8. The back is I said before is a little slippery and the side is matte which tends to get dirty sometimes! The design overall is fantastic given the price!

The Lumia 1320 looks more or less similar to traditional Nokia made devices. It has a straight forward design but a bit chunk at 164.2 x 85.9 x 9.8 mm and weighs 220g. The back of the lumia 1320 has much more grip while using for a longer period but it is not that attractive especially the black one which is really ugly and you should avoid that colour or always use a cover while using that colour!

The design points go to the desire 816 which feels and looks much more premium!
While on the other hand, the material points go to the lumia 1320 which is much more comfortable to hold!

DISPLAY.

The display again surprisingly is similar in both the devices that is 720p which looks a lot different on both the devices!

In the field of outdoor visibility, viewing angles or colour contrast, both phones are fantastic and have incredible display!

The Lumia 1320 uses ClearBlack technology which improves the contrast of the display and reduces reflections.

Display is not that great on either phonesbut when it comes to pixels, the desire 816 is the winner but when we compare them in reality, the case is almost similar and there is no difference at all!

If you are a reader and love to read on the go, the lumia 1320 is better with its ClearBlack technology and bigger display!

HARDWARE.

When it comes to hardware, both have all the connectivity options and neither of them lacks in them!

But when it speakers, you know who the winner is! The HTC desire 816 boomsound outruns the Nokia lumia 1320 at a much higher level and it is still the best in this range!

However when we talk about battery,
The HTC Desire 816 has a 2600mAh battery fitted inside, which the company claims to run for a longer duration.

The Nokia Lumia 1320 features a 3400mAh battery which can keep this beast for some more extra hours.

So in conclusion, the battery on the Nokia lumia 1320 is better than the desire 816! If you are a moderate user, you can even get two days on the lumia 1320 which is great to have!

Both devices have 8GB of internal memory space. However, the Desire 816's 8GB of ROM can be expanded up to 128GB via a microSD card slot.

In case of the Nokia Lumia 1320, a user can expand the internal memory up to 64GB via a microSD card slot.

The HTC Desire 816 support Dual Nano SIM (GSM + CDMA GSM), whereas the Nokia Lumia 1320 doesn't support a dual SIM connectivity.

Both device have their own pros and cons, if you want entertainment, the desire 816 is better but if you want a longer run , the lumia 1320 is better!

SOFTWARE.

On the software side, it is totally up to you, which one you like better and I am not really going to talk about it that much as it would result in a battle of windows phone and android!

Both operating systems and UI are great and stable!

PERFORMANCE.

The HTC Desire 816 uses a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 quad-core processor clocked at 1.6GHz and 1.5GB of RAM which performs like a beast whether it is multi tasking or high end games!

The Nokia Lumia 1320 has a 1.7GHz dual-core processor coupled with 1GB of RAM, making it slightly less powerful when compared to the HTC Desire 816. However, it should be noted that Windows Phone 8 requires less power to run the hardware as always!

Performance is not really a concern on either device and you would face absolutely no lags!
Gaming points however will go to the HTC desire 816!

CAMERA.

Camera is the only place where we actually have a clear winner!

The HTC Desire 816 comes with a 13MP rear-facing camera with a single LED flash with BSI sensor and ability to record videos in Full HD (1080p) format. There's a 5MP front-facing shooter with BSI sensor which is great for capturing high quality selfies!

Camera as I said in my every article is great on this device! Especially in low light, the camera performs better than our expectations! Photos in almost all light conditions come out clear and detailed!

The case is totally opposite when it comes to the Lumia 1320!
The Nokia Lumia 1320 has a 5MP rear-facing camera with a single LED flash, which can shoot 1080p FHD video recording, and has a VGA quality front-facing camera which is decent for video calls!

The camera on the lumia 1320 is not up to the mark but if you are not into photography that much and take photos occasionally, it is good! Photos come out great in sufficient lighting though!

The clear winner here is the HTC desire 816 with a much more capable camera!

TO SUM UP..

Both devices perform great in day to day usage! The pros of the lumia 1320 is bigger battery, ClearBlack display is great, and lesser price (4k INR benefit) while the pros of the HTC desire 816 are detailed display and camera! Choice is yours!

Winner technically is the HTC desire 816!
So i guess we have the best mid range phablet or smartphone!

The HTC desire 816 vs the Sony Xperia T2 ultra!

So, as you all know the much awaited HTC desire 816 was launched in India and the most tough competitor that it is going to have if we avoid the size would be the Moto X which I talked about in my recent article!

But when it comes to size, the biggest competitor in the android arena would be the Sony Xperia T2 ultra which sports 0.5 inches bigger screen than the HTC desire 816 and I am going to tell which android phablet is the best in the mid budget category!

DESIGN AND BUILD!

Now when we talk about the built, both the devices are gorgeous and feel great in the hand!

The HTC design 816 brings a unibody design that is extremely eye catchy if you go for different colours, the back is entirely made out of glossy plastic which does feel a little slippery as i said before and the sides are matte that makes them a dirty sometimes! The build of this particular device does brings class on the phablet table and feels extremely premium when you hold it!

On the other hand, we have the same old Sony design which i complaint in my previous article too and mentioned that the glass design of Sony phones is getting a little boring and this phone is no exception!
The phone if you ignore that looks very attractive and is considerably more premium than the desire 816 when you compare them side by side!

Xperia T2 Ultra is a little heavier though because of the bigger size but it is really thin and you won't notice it after a while!

In this category, i think the HTC desire 816 gets a edge with its unique design however if you like Sony's design, it is not bad too! None of them feels bad or cheap, so i guess i have to say both are winners here!

DISPLAY.

Next up is display and it should be really great when we talk about phablets!
These both phones surprisingly come with the same resolution that is 720p but there are some differences!

HTC ON THE LEFT!

The HTC desire 816 comes with 5.5 inches Super LCD 2 720p display with a pixel density of 267ppi!
The display looks awesome, viewing angles are great and outdoor visibility is no problem too!
You will have no trouble in watching movies or playing high definition games!

While on the Sony booth, the T2 Ultra comes with a 6 inches IPS LCD 720p display with a pixel density of 245ppi that is slightly lesser than the HTC desire 816 because of the bigger display! The display is not bad here either but you will feel the bigger screen when watching HD movie or anything else where this phone will basically lack, other things are just in place including outdoor visibility and viewing angles!

The Winner is definitely the HTC desire 816 with its smaller and sharper display! I think 5.5 inches is more than enough for a phone but if you still want bigger, go for the Sony but don't expect a sharp or crisp display! Colours are more vibrant on the Sony but it pains the eye some times!

HARDWARE.

On the hardware department, both phones are almost similar and both include NFC, Bluetooth 4.0 and Mircro SD card and 8GB of internal storage!

However when we talk about micro SD, the HTC desire 816 gets the edge as you can expand the memory on it up to 128GB, while on the Sony T2 ultra, it is expandable only up to 32GB!

Another aspect where the desire 816 is a complete winner is the speakers! How are you going to enjoy a big phone without great speakers? This is where HTC comes in and blows the tiny speakers of T2 Ultra!

The places where Sony T2 ultra wins is that it consists  WiFi direct and gyroscope and unfortunately the desire 816 just doesn't have this!

Another place where the Sony T2 ultra takes a little edge is the battery life which is slightly better on the Sony T2 Ultra! It comes with a 3000mAh non removable battery in comparison with the 2600mAH non removable battery of the desire 816!

So, in this aspect I am going to go with the desire 816 with more storage and better speakers!
Battery life is almost similar and both of them are capable of giving you an entire day on heavy usage!

SOFTWARE.

Software is the place where both phones differ a lot and it is up to you which one to choose!

The HTC desire 816 comes with the latest Android KitKat 4.4.2 and on top of that Sense 5.5 which will be soon upgraded to Sense 6! The UI is simplistic and useful, and most importantly not a fancy land with too much functions that you don't even use!

Same goes to the T2 Ultra in the UI category with the TimeScape UI which is getting a little boring but is great and stable which is more important! The phone however comes with the older Android Jellybean 4.3 which according to Sony will be soon updated to KitKat!

Both phones as i said differ a lot and you can go for either because both of them are great!

PERFORMANCE.

Performance is one of the major concerns when buying an android phone but not to worry because these both are just fine and don't differ a lot!

The HTC desire 816 comes with the Snapdragon 400 1.6ghz Quad core processor with Adreno 305 assisted with 1.5 GB of RAM which is perfectly capable of running your phone smoothly and also high end games or heavy multi tasking!

On the other side, the Sony Xperia T2 Ultra is powered by the Snapdragon 400 Quad core clocked at 1.4ghz which is little lesser than the HTC! It consists of the Adreno 305 assisted with again lesser 1GB RAM! This phone also runs smooth but you will a clutter while playing high end games!

As you would already expect, performance is better on the HTC desire 816 with much higher specs while the Sony T2 ultra is not bad too if you are not into games a lot!

CAMERA.

Camera is another area where these phones are similar with both having 13MP shooters with a single LED flash capable of recording videos at 1080p!

Both phones take great images but the HTC desire 816 is slightly better especially in low light photography!
Another area where HTC desire 816 wins is the secondary camera with the desire 816 having 5MP camera while the Sony having a 1.1MP shooter! So if you are a selfie lover, the desire 816 is a better choice!

TO SUM UP..

The bottom line is that the HTC desire 816 gives you a much better phablet or a phone experience with better specs! Sony xperia T2 ultra however lacks in some areas which we talked about and deserves a price drop!

Thank you for reading but if you wanna keep reading my new articles, I have a new address now that is phonesoldier.com! Meet you there. :)

Battle of the best mid range phablets- Nokia Lumia 1320 vs Sony Xperia T2 Ultra!

Phablets are really trending nowadays and many customers look for a nice and comfortable tablet in mid range price bracket and there are some decent options available including lumia 1320, xperia t2 Ultra, grand 2 and many more! But it is really hard to choose one, so i am here to tell which is the best mid range phablet that will be a head to head comparision between the nokia lumia 1320 and the sony xperia t2 Ultra! Grand 2 is not that capable and lags too much so we are not going to include that! So let us begin!

DESIGN.

Nokia has been a little unimaginative with the looks of Lumia 1320. Basically, it looks like an oversized Lumia 625. It has the same curvy body as Lumia 625 and seems merely bigger in size; if you looked at the two models from afar, you will probably not be able to tell the two apart.
The big screen makes the phablet too big to handle. Though the curved body helps the handset slip into the pocket easily, it is a little difficult to hold because of the considerable width (3.4-inch). It is quite heavy too, weighing over 200gram.

T2 Ultra follows the same design pattern that Sony is using in high-end range of Z smartphones. It is a sleek, slim and good looking device. The difference between T2 Ultra and other high-end Sony smartphones is the build material. The high-end devices like Xperia Z1 use metal body and a glass back cover. T2 Ultra has a plastic shell, albeit the one that is so glossy that it looks like glass. But the build quality and finishing is top notch. There are no loose parts and the device doesn't look or feel cheap. Another difference is that unlike high-end Xperia devices, T2 Ultra doesn't have water or dust resistant body.
T2 Ultra is just 7.7mm thick and weighs little over 170 grams. For a phablet, these figures are very impressive. The slim and sleek design makes using T2 Ultra easier even though it is a large device.

The winner here is actually and surprisingly the xperia t2 ultra with its much comfortable and a little less heavier and good looking design!

DISPLAY.

The display on actually both the phones is the same that is 720p resolution with the same pixel density! The edge here actually goes to the lumia 1320 with its clear black display with really nice outdoor visibility and colour reproduction! The screen of the xperia t2 ultra is actually really reflective and has bad outdoor visibility and looks really dull!
So the winner here is the nokia lumia 1320!

SOFTWARE.

The xperia t2 ultra runs the android jellybean 4.3 with the sony's custom UI whereas the nokia lumia 1320 runs on windows phone 8 GDR3 update!
The edge here goes to the lumia 1320 as the software of the lumia 1320 makes much more use of the 6inch screen and the live tiles look really eye catchy and vibrant!
Software updates will most probably come first the nokia lumia 1320 and t2 ultra will lag behind in android updates!
The winner here is the lumia 1320 which gives you a much smoother experience of the software!

CAMERA.

When we talk about the camera, you would probably think it is the nokia phone but the case here is totally different!
The 13MP camera of the sony xperia t2 ultra smashes the 5MP camera of the nokia lumia 1320!
The camera on the nokia lumia 1320 performs under average and the camera on the sony xperia t2 ultra performs decent!
Don't expect good quality photos from the xperia t2 ultra as they are not that great in spite of the 13mp shooter!
So the winner in this category is the sony xperia t2 ultra!

BATTERY LIFE.

When we talk about the battery life in this case, it is really great on both the phones! The nokia lumia 1320 comprises of a 3400mAH non removable bettery whereas the xperia t2 ultra has a non removable 3000mAH battery!
Both the batteries are fantastic and can run for about 2 days on moderate usage! But we have to decide a winner and it is the nokia lumia 1320!
The nokia lumia 1320 can run a little more longer even if you turn the brightness to maximum!

PERFORMANCE.

Performance is actually average on both!
The nokia lumia 1320 is Powered by the dual-core 1.7GHz Snapdragon S4 chipset with 1GB RAM and the xperia t2 ultra is powered by Snapdragon 400 quad-core processor. If you are interested, it is a variant of MSM8228 processor. The four cores of the processor use A7 ARM architecture, which is meant to be used in mainstream devices. The cores run at 1.4GHz. T2 Ultra has 1GB RAM!
When we look at the specifications, the xperia t2 ultra is a clear winner but we use it, the case is opposite actually!
The android operating system requires a much more high processing unit to run smoothly whereas windows phone can run perfectly on dual cores! So you are going to face some lags on the sony xperia t2 ultra and on the nokia lumia 1320, they are absouletly no lags at all!
Gaming is decent on both the phones, but when you compare them head to head, it is the nokia lumia 1320 that performs much more faster!
So, the winner here is the nokia lumia 1320 with a lag free experience!

TO SUM UP..

Both the phones are mid budget phones and are average in every aspect! But i would actually prefer the nokia lumia 1320 with a much more capable enrivonment and a little cheaper too! Sony xperia t2 ultra is right now a little over priced for what it is offering! If you really want a android in that range, i would suggest to increase your budget and go for the lg g pro!
