Why I never bought an Iphone!

9:08 PM Posted by phonesoldier , , , , , No comments
Let us clear some things off first, I am not an iPhone hater, actually  I love iPhone that's why I am writing to this article for apple to fix their mistakes as soon as possible and nor this a biased article! This article is just my views on iPhones and why are they getting less popular! Yes, the market share of iPhone is dipping and I think my prediction is going to be right! My prediction actually was that if iPhone continuous releasing this kind of iPhones and IOS updates, they are going to be in a big problem and that's what is happening!

The market share of iPhone has been continuously dipping since 2012, and places like Europe and china, it is losing share at a high rate! That is actually because of windows phone rise in this areas, but I think there are a couple of more reasons why iPhone is losing altitude!

TOO OVERPRICED!

The share of low budget smartphones is really high right now, the biggest holder is actually the Nokia lumia 520 and in some areas, Moto g!

The announcement of iphone 5c created a large hike in the technology world, that iphone is finally going to listen to the customers and release a cheaper iphone that a normal customer can buy! We were really hoping for a cheaper iphone, but what apple did surprisingly was took the iPhone 5, ripped off the back and installed a plastic shell! I think that was the first time I thought apple is not good and trying to fool the customers! I actually thought that too when iphone 5 was released but not that much!
In this fast world of technology, people want better phones in low prices , if not entry level, then at least apple should release it in mid budget range! If anyone thinks of buying an iphone, they don't really have a choice except iphone 5c that is extremely old and iphone 5s that is good at some extent but is little overpriced! Even if we rule out iphone 5s, customers have no choice at all except giving up their whole month's salary! I think apple should think about it and do something! Because according to leaks, there is no new phone in low budget by apple is coming, just the iphone 6 which is going to cost your kidney and a 5.5 inch phablet which is going to I don't know but cost a much higher than iphone 6!

BRING A CHANGE!

Second reason for which I think iPhone is fainting is lack of CHANGE basically! With the release of ios 7, a lot of customers were unhappy because they need a little change! Sure they revamped the look and brought action centre but what I am talking about here is the home screen! Same home screen for 8 years? Are you kidding me with that? They should bring a change at least in IOS 8 but i think we have to wait for the IOS 9 for that because the image of IOS8 is leaked and it is not different! Otherwise share of iPhone will get down and we will lose a great operating system like blackberry! It's not just about ios either, the latest windows phone 8.1 update brought almost all the changes people are demanding and that's going to make a difference in windows phone share and customers will eventually move to windows phone because they can't go for android because they are used to of a lag free environment!

SIZE INCREASE!

Next reason i think would be the size of iphone! Actually I love using phones with sizes around 4inch but we are talking about the whole world, so this was necessary to point out!
IPhone have been continuing their tradition of small and compact phones! The highest you can get is 4inch right now and that is going to be a big problem! That is not really to be the case in future actually because iphone is bringing phablet and the iPhone 6 is going to be of 4.7inch! But as of now, the market share of iPhone is getting low and this reason plays an important role right now! People are getting habitual of big screens nowadays ( I am not really fan of that) and most of them includes 5inch full HD displays! 5inch is actually the 3.5inch of today! A few years back, 3.5 inch was too big for people but right now it is 5inch! If I recommend someone a z1 compact or a Moto x on twitter, they reject it sometimes with the reason of it being too small and I think it is going to keep going higher in the future! So in this case,  iPhone having phones with sizes of 4inches is not going to help!

FLEXIBILITY OF IOS!

no SD card, no Bluetooth transfer, iTunes for transferring media and a lot more are the reasons people avoid IOS! It is not that bad but some people just hate that!
Windows phone had some similar problems in the beginning but it is not the case right now!
So IOS should find out a way to deal with this and release some flexible features!

FORM FACTOR!

The first Iphone was released in 2007 which got really popular due to its different design and functions!
But when Iphone 5s was launched, people weren't really happy about the form factor because it was the same as always! Camera on the top corner, apple logo and everything else was just identical!
So I think Apple should really change the form factor and design of the next iphone, but we can actually rule out the next iphone because it is the same again except screen is bigger!

TO SUM UP...

To sum up, IOS is not bad, the stability and the quality of the applications is great but what i am basically bored of to be precise is the operating system and the looks of the iphone, what i am asking for is just a change!

What is still missing from windows phone!

So, finally a few days back windows phone 8.1 was launched and it brought a lot of features users were demanding including the action center, home screen backgrounds, cortana, swipe keyboard and much more interesting features! But there are some features still missing that i think can still hold some customers to buy windows phone and i am here to point out the most important of them!  Let us begin!

1. GOOGLE SERVICES ARE STILL MISSING!

According to the recent survey, gmail services hold about 74% of market share and that is a huge share! So, in this situation with windows phone having not even a single important Google service can hold its market share to grow! Services like YouTube, blogger, gmail, chrome browser and many more are used daily by almost all, so according to me until Microsoft brings Google services to windows phone, it is not going to grow that much! Sure, according to Microsoft, these services are coming soon but until then, it is going to be a real push back for windows phone!

2. OTG SUPPORT!

A lot of people like to carry their entertainment with them all the time or connect keyboard or game controller and in this case, they use the USB on the go feature on android smartphones and that is missing on the windows phone! Before the launch of windows phone 8.1, there was actually a rumor that revealed that there is going to be otg support on windows phone but there is not and i hope it comes in the future updates! It is not going to affect the market share that much but i think it would be nice if they bring it!

3.PRINT DOCUMENTS DIRECTLY FROM YOUR PHONE!

Now, this feature is about cloud printing and if someone is unaware of that, it is actually printing using cloud functionality which includes no wires or cables and you can directly print from anywhere! This feature right comes in built in both android and ios and a lot of people like using it everyday! Sure, there are third party apps available but i think it should come in built in the future updates! This feature will be a big success on windows phone because of the office that comes in built in!

4. A FULLY FUNCTIONAL FILE MANAGER!

SD cards are supported in some of the windows phone but there is no fully functional file manager that on could use to organize its files in a lot more efficient way! There are third party apps but they miss a lot of the features! Features like unzipping and zipping a file are missing and i hope microsoft brings this features in future!

5.FASTER UPDATES TO APPS!

Windows phone store is growing everyday but the real thing that concerns me is that updates are not coming along with android and ios! For example the twitter is app is really poor in functionality and whatsapp is not that fast and misses some features! So, right now my concern is not the apps but the updates that should come along with android and ios! Microsoft should fix this and force developers to bring updates more faster!

TO SUM UP...

So those were my top missing features from the windows phone right now, there are actually more like no flash support in the browser! Windows phone looks a  lot more developed after the windows phone 8.1 but these features should come in faster in order for windows phone to compete with android or ios!

Taking a look back at the Windows phone 7!

10:58 AM Posted by phonesoldier , , , , , , , No comments
The first windows phone by nokia was launched in the 2011 that was the Nokia lumia 800 and from then the streak is still continuing as nokia has launched a ton of windows phones as of now! But does that really mean that Nokia lumia 800 was the reason that nokia is still in this market and basically ruling it! The answer is actually really different and i going to explain you that! Let us begin!

The Nokia lumia 800 was no doubt an exceptional phone and i too bought it and used it for like a year and a half and i still got it and i love it! But there are some flaws and quarks that Nokia should look into as some people still got a windows phone 7 running lumia and are in desperate need of applications! The stage at which windows phone 8 is at right now is incredible and the marketplace is really huge comparing it to when it was launched and then we look at the windows phone 7, there is absolutely nothing! Not even the nokia drive application is updated to here drive and that is actually really sad because that is not what we execpt from nokia usually and basically that is the most important reason, that wp8 is not that successful!   As wp8 launched nokia completely forgot about the wp7 users and  totally abandoned it! There are many users of wp7 that i see comment regularly  on nokia's facebook account or twitter and ask for some new apps or upgrades! Those users who own a nokia lumia 800 or any wp7 are not willing to upgrade to wp8 as they lost trust in them and basically lost trust in nokia and are switching to android or IOS!

IF Nokia was smart enough to at least provide some updates to wp7 users, the share of wp8 would have been greater as it is of now! Because the users who are frustated with the wp7 would warn others about it who are thinking of buying a wp8 device and by that they would change their mind and just go to an android or ios! I still have  an iphone 3gs and a few days back, it received a minor update and i was like WHAT! I mean after 6 years of its release , that phone is still receiving updates! And we look at wp7, after 2 years, microsoft just abandoned it and started focusing on wp8! This is just a slap in the face as people bought the wp7 with a trust and hope that it will rise someday even they knew there are no apps including me! And what are they left with today? Just a phone with outdated specs and outdated apps!

So this is a call to all the wp7 users out there to share and spread this to the world and get Nokia to release something for wp7! Just tweet this to nokia and microsoft and let it spread!

So that's for today's article! HOPE YOU LIKED IT!

Phonesoldier talks: tech roundup #1

So this is a new series of articles I am beginning that will important technology news from the past couple of days and I will share my views on it! So this is phonesoldier talks: tech roundup #1!

1. Twitter kills-off #music app

Less than a year ago, back in mid-April 2013, we saw Twitter introduce the world to its Twitter #music app for iOS.  It took advantage of iTunes to offer users previews of any songs they ran across, and by tying into an account with a streaming provider like Spotify, you could even pull up full tracks. Twitter talked about its big plans, like making #music available in additional countries and coming out with an Android version… and that’s pretty much the last I ever heard of it. Apparently I was not the only one who lost interest in the service, as today Twitter announced the end of #music.

Twitter is pulling the #music app from Apple’s App Store today, and if you already have it installed, it will stop functioning as of April 18 – which I am sure is no coincidence that it would also be the app’s one-year birthday.

The company says that it will “continue to experiment with new ways to bring you great content based on the music activity we see every day on Twitter,” but has not given any indication that another stand-alone would be part of those plans; if we do ever see something like #music again, it seems likely that it might be baked right in to the main Twitter app itself.

2. Google Now may auto-suggest Calendar events based on your conversations

Google already takes advantage of the connections between all the services it offers to provide its users some convenient, time-saving tools. For instance, when you get a message in Gmail that mentions a time or date, Google automatically detects that text, underlines it, and gives you a quick way to add the event directly to your Google Calendar. From the looks of things, though, Google may be about to take this kind of automated system and really run with it, letting Google Now detect events in conversations you have from sources beyond just Gmail, and then suggest you add them to your Calendar.

It’s not clear exactly what Google Now would scan in order to make these inferences, but the presumption is that besides Gmail, we’d also be looking at Hangouts, including IMs and maybe even text messages. There’s also no telling when the feature might go live (assuming it actually does), but with some of the framework in place already, this could very well crop up in the next release or two.

8.9-inch Google Nexus tablet might be in the works

There are recently a lot of rumors regarding the release of a new nexus tablet that might be bigger than its predecessor scaling around 9inch (8.9 inch more precisely), this might be a good thing as the nexus 7 we were using was pretty small and was not enough of giving the experience that was required in terms of size! The expectation is that this will be a lower volume product, carrying a premium price tag to support the specifications”, claims the report, which also mentions “high-performance” specifications. Google’s Nexus line-up isn’t known to carry premium price tags, but the rumors about this device talk about a higher than $299 price tag; HTC might be the manufacturer, according to the report!

SO this is actually good in my view as i find the old nexus pretty small!

Windows Phone 8.1 hinted on Microsoft’s website

The next iteration of Windows Phone, codenamed Blue, and with version number 8.1, is expected to be unveiled at the Build event happening soon. While many of its upcoming features have been leaked online, rumored, or unofficially unveiled with a lot of videos and tutorials, there might still be some surprises waiting for us.
Heading over to the source image , you will land on the official Windows Phone page . At the top left, you can choose to see Windows Phone 8, or Windows Phone 8.1 features. Of course, the Windows Phone 8.1 link will take you to an error page. Nothing specific to see there at the moment, but we’re guessing that the page will be populated at the beginning of April, after Microsoft’s Build event, where the platform is expected to see the light of day.

Nokia’s latest Lumias may launch earlier than expected

When it comes to Windows Phone news, as well as news of the latest Lumia smartphones from Nokia, there are two dates that i am keeping in mind: April 2, and April 19. The former is when Microsoft’s Build conference gets underway this year, and sometime during the event (which runs though April 4), we’re expecting Microsoft to make a big Windows Phone 8.1 announcement that all are excited the most about. The latter date is one we’ve heard rumored for a Nokia event, where it would presumably introduce its first native WP8.1 handsets which i tweeted a few days back. Now, however, it seems that those new Lumias may make their first public appearance a little earlier, with rumors claiming that a pair of handsets will debut at Build itself.
Supposedly, Nokia would introduce the Lumia 630 and Lumia 930 at Build. We assume that the mention of the 630 here also includes the 635, as we’re expecting only minor differences between the two. While the 630 sounds relatively middle-of-the-road, the 930 could be a real treat, and we’ve seen it attached to specs like a 4.5-inch 1080p screen.
Beyond these two, I also heard once again about the device codenamed Goldfinger. . While Goldfinger wouldn’t join the 630 and 930 next month, it’s reportedly still in the works, though its launch timeframe may have been pushed back.

Motorola Moto 360 smartwatch rumored to have sapphire face

Long before anyone was talking about bringing the protection of synthetic sapphire glass to smartphone screens, the material was being used to protect the faces of high-end watches; considering how constantly exposed to the threat of damage a watch can be, using a resilient substance like sapphire made a lot of sense. But will sapphire make the transition from old “dumb” watches to also keep this latest generation of smartwatches looking good as new? That’s the possibility I am considering today, upon hearing that Motorla’s upcoming Android Wear-powered Moto 360 may feature just such a sapphire crystal.

Apple looking to fix its iPhone battery issues with new patent

This is actually the most important news in the past couple of days as the battery problem is really a big flaw for which most of the users don't appreciate about! At a time when batteries keep getting bigger and bigger, you’d think that Apple would lead this trend since the biggest complaint that all iPhone users share, is their hatred for its battery life. The irony is that Apple has only grown the iPhone’s battery 12% in the last seven years, when compared to Samsung which has almost tripled it. Apple clearly has a problem to fix, and a new patent sheds some light into where it’ll focus on next.
This patent will allow the iphone to automatically adjust the battery according the charging periods and usage! That's pretty cool!

That's it for this time, there are other news too but i thought these were the most important!

Why Android still holds about 80% of market share!

1:51 PM Posted by phonesoldier , , , , No comments
Android has been developing a lot since it was launched back in 2008 but even after release of ios 7 or wp8 , there is absolutely no effect on its market share! Windows phone has been developing too but it only took some percentage of the ios market share, that affected ios a lot but android still stands straight! Why is it? A lot of people ask that why is android still on the top even after the release of other beautiful yet light and faster operating systems? The answer lies within!
The more customization on android is actually the first reason that most people like it and that is not available on IOS or wp8! But that should not create this much market share gap, or will it? i guess not! Some people say there are more apps on android than ios or wp, I agree with wp but they are totally wrong about IOS! So is there just one reason that why android is so much popular? Well, there's something else too! That is, the FLEXIBILITY! U can make android whatever you want in any manner, that's the most important reason i guess! I am not talking about customization again, I am talking about the openness of android that includes first of all sharing like Bluetooth sharing! Another reason is the locking options like face lock, pattern lock and much more! OTG is another reason why people love android, u could transfer your data directly to your device without connecting it to a PC!
File manager on android allows you to view your content in a more efficient way and you can unzip or zip any file directly on your device! Third party keyboards come in next as they allow you to type in a more mannered way or you could just use it to avoid the inbuilt keyboard!
Android is a form of google and that's another reason why people opt for it that is the google services that you get inbuilt! IOS lets you do that too but not the same or i would say in a more integrated way!
When it comes to the app store, it is massive like IOS but the plus point in android case is you get more free applications when compared to IOS or you could just sideload them if they are paid!

Multiple user accounts that came in android 4.3 was really a great way to experience PC capabilities on a mobile device, sure it cannot replace PC but it works in some cases!
Lastly i would just say that Android is a more open platform than any other mobile OS but if u don't mess with your device everyday,  u could live with IOS or windows phone too!
That's it for this article! thank you for reading! comments are always welcome!

why you should buy a windows phone if you are not an app hunter!

6:26 PM Posted by phonesoldier , , , 4 comments
Why you should buy a Windows Phone if you are not an app hunter!

First of all i want to clarify that this not a comparison of mobile operating systems, it is just a guide which will help you to decide which operating system is suitable for you!

Windows phone has been growing a lot since it has been launched if you compare to other new operating systems like blackberry 10 which had to allow android apps in order to increase it's market share but still that is not making any kind of impact on its market share! Since windows phone has launched, it's image is like "there are no apps!" but that's not the case now, a lot of people ask me on twitter that which operating system is the best? and i always reply with the answer that whichever suits you is the best! some like Android and some IOS! Windows Phone right now has over 200000 apps which is actually really good! but still people are avoiding it , i really don't why because literally everyday a new popular app launches for windows phone like 2 days back, fifa 14 was launched! The problem with the customers is that they still think of the windows phone as it was when wp7 was in development! But let me tell you that after using android and windows phone together as my primary devices, i would give a little edge to windows phone just because of it's stability and smooth performance and beautiful integration of social networks!
I was able to find each of my daily applications on windows phone including instagram, twitter, the times of India and a lot more!

The thing i have been trying to explain is windows phone has each and every essential app which is necessary for your daily life and if you are not able to find one, there are third party apps which provide regular updates and are perfect! One of the best example of it is 6snap, a beautiful snapchat app!
If you are not an app hunter that means you don't need new apps to try everyday and can live with Microsoft services, windows phone is for you! If you just want Google mail, windows phone is for you! if u want a budget phone without lags, windows phone is for you!
To sum up, windows phone is an OS which is developing every day and if you are afraid that windows phone will not fulfill your app needs, just check which apps you use daily and then make sure they are on windows phone store or not before judging it!
Thank you for reading it! comments are most welcome if you are having any doubts!
