Phonesoldier Talks: Tech Roundup #3

Last week was pretty hectic for a technology blogger as there were too many leaks including LG G3, HTC one mini 2 and much more. So I am here to collect them all and tell you the top news from last week in this latest edition of phonesolider talks: tech roundup #3!

SURFACE MINI RUMORED TO LAUNCH AT MAY 20 MICROSOFT EVENT.

Rumors of the release of the Surface mini have been swirling on the internet for quite a while now but we didn't get any leaks that would give us any idea on that. But is that finally about to change?
Invitations has begun making their way out of Microsoft for their event that is on May 20 which immediately makes me think we’ll be seeing the elusive Surface Mini.

This event lines up pretty well with an earlier report stating a release timeframe and also the possibility of stylus support on the device.

As a quick refresher, we’re expecting a 7.5 inch display with a 4:3 aspect ratio, making the device’s screen shockingly similar to the one that can be found on Apple’s iPad Mini line.

I will be posting about the event,so stay tuned for that.

HTC ONE MINI 2 IN-THE-WILD PIC HINTS AT COLOR OPTIONS.

A few days back, we checked out the first leak of the HTC one Mini 2 but no one was not really buying it, noticing some irregularities that pointed composite image.

But we have a new leak of the upcoming HTC one Mini 2 pointing out different colors possibility which will be quite interesting!

As you likely noticed straight away, this handset does away with the drab accents we saw in those One mini 2 renders, offering a bold yellow look, instead. It’s just a small change, sure, but one that goes a long way to giving the handset a little character.

No matter what the design looks like, I hope HTC puts the specs and price right and not make the same mistake like the HTC one Mini (2013).

NOKIA PLANNING TO BRING "HERE" SERVICES TO IOS AND ANDROID?

Here services are one of the reasons people buy a Windows phone but in this situation Nokia bringing it to IOS and Android isn't really a great idea!

We’ve had a taste of HERE on iOS and Android before, like the beta release of HERE Maps several years ago, or its more recent availability on iOS (until December, that was), but we may be looking at much more concerted push in the near future. New job listings advertise positions on the HERE team for devs experienced in both iOS and Android, and specifically in delivering apps to those platforms’ respective app stores.

Could this mean that we’d be seeing not just HERE Maps, but also Drive+, Transit, and even City Lens emerge as iOS and Android apps? If this happens, there is going to be a significant loss in the windows phone market share which is already struggling to make its position.

SAMSUNG GALAXY TAB S HARDWARE RUMORED TO COME WITH A 2K OLED AND A FINGERPRINT SCANNER!

For quite a while now, we’ve been hearing talk about Samsung returning to the idea of outfitting tablets with bright, colorful OLED displays. These are the panels that make the company’s flagship smartphones look as nice as they do, but for the overwhelming majority of its tablets, Samsung has been using LCD screens, instead. Rumors have slowly been circling around a pair of models that might bring OLED displays on tablets back to the forefront, and today we catch wind of a report that attempts to describe these tablets in a healthy amount of detail, as well as offers a name for this new family.

Samsung may go with Exynos 5 Octa SoCs for all these Tab S variants, including the unusual move to not bring in Snapdragon chips for the LTE versions. Look for the hardware to pack IR transceivers, as well as a Galaxy S5-style fingerprint scanner embedded in the tablet’s home button. The scanner may be tied to an enhanced multi-user interface for managing accounts.

Whatever it is, as soon as it goes official, I will let you know.

LG G3 LEAKS ARRIVE.

A couple of days back, we got some online leaks of the LG G3 which were not quite clear but now we now have a crystal clear image of the device showing a spectacular build along with some other possibilities.

For instance, that black oval to the left of the rear camera – the one no one seems to know whether it’s an IR transceiver, fingerprint scanner or something else entirely – looks way too large here. It’s visibly wider than the dual-LED flash to the camera’s right, whereas in the pictures we’ve seen of actual hardware, the two ovals are identically sized.

That stylus-looking job up top is likely an antenna for digital TV reception in South Korea, so don’t count on seeing that in the phone’s international edition.

The phone is coming after the launch of HTC one M8 or the Samsung Galaxy S5, so it would be a tough competition for it to survive in the wild.

I will keep you posted with more leaks.

WINDOWS PHONE 8.1 FILE MANAGER COULD LAUNCH THIS MONTH.

Windows phone users have been asking for a official file manger for a long time and there was no answer from Microsoft until Belfiore confirms: a WP8.1 file manager is absolutely on the way. There’s no hard ETA just yet, but he says to be on the lookout for it to arrive sometime nearer the end of the month. But even if it gets pushed back to June, make no mistake that it’s coming.

In fact, Belfiore wasn’t just ready with an answer, but had a whole load of screenshots ready to share, anticipating that the question would be brought up. Suffice it to say,I am  hugely excited for this app to get here as it is going to make a big change in the Windows phone ecosystem and make use of the phones with SD card support.

Top upcoming smartphones!

We are already at May 2014 and we have some spectacular  smartphones already released which are supposed to rock the market share like their predecessor but we are still rolling and have some more smartphones to look at and we are going to talk about them in this article! Let us begin!

                                 1. IPHONE 6

Iphone has been in the news since the Iphone 5S was launched and rumors continue to release back and fourth, some were true and some were not!

Rumors are that the Iphone 6 will come with a bigger screen measuring at 4.7" which is a great change as the size of Iphone was not acceptable to all!

Other Rumors include a new and powerful A8 chip and a sapphire crystal screen which we all are excited about! I don't think the A8 was really necessary as the already running A7 is powerful enough.

Actually that's not enough, another Iphone along with the Iphone 6 is going to launch that is according to the rumors is going to a phablet and most probably will come with the same specs as the Iphone 6.

"I hope Apple doesn't bring the heartrate monitor!"

Both the Iphones are expected to release in September 2014!

                                      2. LG G3

LG G2 was a grand success only because of its powerful processor and camera, and I think it is still a great device but as you know no matter how powerful the phone is, the successor has to eventually come and LG is no exception!

The LG G3 will apparently have a 1440 x 2560 QHD display and  It's said to be 5.5 inches in size, which if true would amount to 534 pixels per inch.

        LG G3 benchmark

The LG G2 has a 2.26GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor, which is still pretty impressive, but early rumors hinted at LG using its in-house Odin processor and an octa-core version of it is tipped for the LG G3.

While the speed of the processor hasn't been confirmed, reports claim that the octa-core version will have four cores clocked at 2.2GHz and the other four clocked at 1.7GHz, which should give it a sizable boost over the LG G2.

LG G3 - LEAKIn terms of RAM the LG G3 is being tipped to come with 3GB, up from 2GB in the G2 and keeping it inline with its direct rivals.

In the UI department, the LG G3 will come with a newer revamped version which looks a little less childish and disturbing!

       LG G3 interface

The specs obviously look top notch but I would like to see a little more changes than just upgrading the specs!

                               3. MOTO X+1

Moto X is still one of the my favourite devices because of its unique features and comfortable design but where it lacks is the camera department and the overall specs which are not the best.

So here we are in 2014 and we have already started receiving rumors of its successor, the Moto X+1!

The tentatively-named Moto X+1 has appeared on benchmark site GFX bench, with an XT912A model number. While this is an identical model number to the existing Moto X, is specs suggest that we're looking at a newer, improved handset.

The processor has been bumped a lot with the new flagship coming with a 5.2in 1080p display and a quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor. I was actually surprised to see an older processor but I think Motorola will keep the prices down and that's a good thing!

1.7GB of memory likely points to 2GB of RAM, while a 12MP camera could potentially perform better than the Moto X's average 10MP offering, which offered good  (but not outstanding) photos!

It will be great to see Motorola keeping things simple again and I hope for the best!

                                   4. MOTO E

Moto G was another spectactular phone from Motorola which also was a grand hit escially in India but Motorola is this time coming with a much more budget phone reportedly named Moto E!

moto-thin-brazil

The Specs are really low end as you can see in the Image and this will most probably give a tough to the Nokia Lumia 520!

               5. PLASTIC HTC ONE M8

htc_m8_ace_first_image_leak_evleaks.jpg

HTC one M8 is one of the most popular and powerful devices of 2014 but what we see missing in these phones is a cheaper price but HTC is listening to you as a cheaper version of the HTC one M8 is in the works!

Leaked by @evleaks earlier this month, the 'HTC M8 Ace' is now being claimed by Engadget to sport high-end specifications with a lower price tag. The M8 Ace is said to feature a 5-inch screen with full-HD (1080x1920 pixels) resolution and be powered by a quad-core Snapdragon 801 SoC clocked at 2.5GHz.

You might be thinking how it can be cheap with the same specs as the HTC one M8 but what's missing is the  "metal".

The M8 Ace's plastic unibody build instead of aluminium is said to make it sport a cheaper price tag than the flagships.

A report coming from TMT Post, a Chinese website, claims the HTC M8 Ace will be priced at around CNY3,000 (about Rs. 29,000) which is a little hard to accept as how can be there this much price cut!

I think this device will give up some of the HTC one M8 features like the Duo camera but there's no official or leaked news about it!
