Why you should go for the Moto G instead of the Moto E!

7:24 PM Posted by phonesoldier , , , , No comments
Moto E was launched a few days back with low specs and a great price but is it capable enough to drive customers from the Moto G? I don't really think so as the Moto G is a lot better than the Moto E in basically every aspect from performance to camera.

So let's see how the Moto G is a better buy than the Moto E!

BETTER DISPLAY.

Moto G comes with a 4.5 inches 720p display  (~326 ppi pixel density) that looks gorgeous thanks to the small size whereas the Moto E comes with a 4.3-inches display with 540 x 960 pixels resulting in a pixel density of 256ppi that isn't the best but is totally acceptable because of the price.

Moto G display is a lot better than the Moto E with better viewing angles, better color reproduction and better everything. Moto E display on the other hand is not up to the mark with pale color reproduction and decent viewing angles.

Display is a lot better on the Moto G if you are looking to watch movies on your phone or play HD games.

MOTO G IS FASTER.

Moto G comes with a much powerful 1.2 GHz  Quad-core Cortex-A7 processor assisted with 1GB RAM with Adreno 305 for better graphical expreience.

Moto E however comes with a comparitively slower 1.2 GHz Dual-core  Cortex-A7 assisted with a similar 1GB RAM with Adreno 302 which isn't the best but is capable of running most of the games.

Moto G is a lot faster than the Moto E in every aspect from multi-tasking to gaming.

BETTER CAMERA WITH MORE HARDWARE FEATURES!

While the mega pixel count on both the phones is the same that is 5MP, difference comes in the focus!

The Moto E surprisgly lags a "Auto-focus" camera and comes with a fixed focus camera that will create a problem when it comes to macros!

Moto G also gets the advantage of a LED flash for better low light shots and a 1.3MP secondary camera that comes in handy when it comes to video calls and occasional selfies!

Another area where the Moto G camera is better is video recording! Moto G is capable of recording videos up to 720p that results in a far better videos than the Moto E!

TO SUM UP.

I think these reasons are enough for you to go for the Moto G instead of the Moto E even if the Moto E is cheaper.

If you are okay with this drawbacks, then Moto E is for you!

Why you should not buy the Sony Xperia M2!

10:05 AM Posted by phonesoldier , , , , , No comments
So, another much awaited budget friendly ( was supposed to ) smartphone, the Sony Xperia M2 was launched in India 2 days back with the price tag of 22k INR! The predecessor of this phone, xperia m was really popular, especially for its price tag but the newly launched xperia m2 is nowhere near it!
Sony xperia M was only successful until Moto G with its incredible specs at the most reasonable price you could imagine came in! This created a impression in customer's mind that what was it like to use a budget device!

Sony Xperia M2 was first expected to launch with a price tag of around 17k because the only thing different in it from the Moto G was the camera which is not that great but just better than the Moto G!

So, we are here to going to take a much deeper look at the mistakes that Sony did which can affect it's second position in India!

DESIGN, SAME OLD SONY!

The design of the new Sony Xperia M2 is no exception of what you see in other Sony phones but when you compare with it's predecessor, it is a nice upgrade from the plastic built! But we already saw this design in most of the Sony's phones and i think it's time to change!

The phone has the same button layout and flaps BUT THE SURPRISING THING TO FOCUS ON HERE IS THAT THIS PHONE IS NOT WATERPROOF ( I am shocked too) ! It is a nice looking phone overall but i think that design is getting pretty boring!

SCREEN IS NO GOOD!

Resolution is the most serious issue. It's a 960 x 540 pixel screen that is 4.8-inches across. This gives a relatively low pixel density of 229ppi, and you can tell. Text looks less sharp than it would on a Z2 or – more importantly – a Motorola Moto G. I don't know what is wrong with Sony, but whatever they are doing, i hope they have a plan!

This is a shame, and it's the one part of the phone I find genuinely disappointing. Sony boasts about having the largest-in-class qHD screen in its release materials, but that's actually a bad thing.

The screen is dull, viewing angles are decent, outdoor visibility is not up to the mark and what not!

CAMERA IS LITTLE BETTER BUT NOT THAT MUCH!

We have already seen two aspects where Xperia M2 is perfectly crushed by the Moto G or any other phone in that range but i think camera is the area where Xperia M2 can shine!

The M2 rocks a 8MP shooter with a single LED that is capable of taking decent photos in sufficient lighting and as expected it is almost useless in low light!

The camera is capable of recording full HD videos if you were curious! Effects like HDR are also present if you wanna mess around with the settings!

PERFORMANCE IS NO SURPRISE TOO!

The phone comes with 1.2ghz quad core cortex-A7 processor with the Adreno 305 assisted with 1GB RAM!
The specs are really behind time and match exactly with the Moto G! This phone is capable of giving you a near smooth experience and you can play high end games on low graphics!

SOFTWARE AND HARDWARE.

When we talk about the software, this phone again shockingly comes with the older android jellybean 4.3 which as said by Sony will be updated to android kitkat and we hope it does given the specs!
On the top of that, we have the timescape UI which is always great and can be dealt with!

On the hardware department, the phone offers a lot of options including NFC, USB OTG, Bluetooth 4.0, and Wifi Direct!

The phone also alike all Sony phones offers the ability to expand the storage via micro-SD card and the memory can be expanded up to 32GB! The internal storage is 8GB!

Phone comes with a NON-REMOVABLE 2300 mAh battery which is capable of giving you a full day on moderate usage!

Reception is never a concern in Sony phones and this particular device is no exception!

TO SUM UP...

The Xperia M2 is a great device if you neglect the price which we obviously can't! So until the price of the xperia M2 drops hopefully up to 16k-17k, you should avoid it!
If you want a phone in that range, you can opt for the HTC desire 816 or the Moto X! If you don't want a better camera, then go for the Moto G and save almost 10k!

Moto G vs LG L90!

10:14 PM Posted by phonesoldier , , , , , No comments
Smartphone World is really big but the one category that is according to me is the low end category because there aren't really that great options available in that range!
Before the release of the lg l90, the only good option available in that range was the moto g which was widely popular because of its great specs and lag free experience, there was a drawback in the camera section but the LG L90 actually fills that void with its great camera performance!
So let's find out which android phone is the best in the low end category!

DESIGN.

Moto G reviewThe Moto G features a plastic removable back cover that fits right in the hand thanks to the curved edges, it is actually a little bit heavier than it looks! The Plastic back doesn't feels the best but you can't really complaint given the price!

The LG L90 on the other hand, also features a plastic back that is a  shinier than the moto g and much more premium than the moto g!The design is overall inspired by its elder brother LG G2! It is not the best i would say but it feels pretty much premium when you hold it!

The edge here goes to the LG L90 with its much more premium, slimmer and high quality design! However the design of the moto g is much more comfortable and has much more grip but if you are looking for a premium feel, then you should go for the LG L90!

DISPLAY.

Display is one of the points where low end phones are not up to the mark at all and have dull outdoor visibility but surprisingly these phones are not that bad!

The Moto G rocks a 4.5 inch 720p display that looks incredible because of the screen size! As I mentioned in many of articles, if the screen size is low, then 720p can look gorgeous too and the moto g stands on it straight!

The LG L90 however lags behind when it comes to the display with its 4.7 inch qHD display that isn't quite great as on the moto g but is sufficiently good for viewing images or reading! You might wanna avoid watching movies though!

The outdoor visibility on the both the phones are great, with direct sunlight however, you can face difficulties on the LG L90!

The winner here is the moto g with its much more sharper and vibrant display!

SOFTWARE.

Software is the side where you would think that low end phones always come with jellybean and weird UIs but these phones aren't that disappointing!

The Moto G comes with Android Kitkat 4.4.2 that is the latest with almost pure android user interface!
The LG L90 also comes with android kitkat 4.4 and on top of that LG's skin that can be annoying at times but provides some features like knockcode that allows you to wake your phone by tapping and many more!

So here it is actually on you to decide that who is the winner and which UI you look the most!
I would prefer the Moto G when it comes to software!

PERFORMANCE.

Performance is where these phones collide the most and give a tough competition to each other!

Both the phones actually have the same internals when it comes to performance that is the Snapdragon 1.2ghz quad core processor, 1GB RAM, and Adreno 305 GPU!

Both the phones perform silky smooth in day to day usage whether you multitask between a lot of apps or play graphical intensive games like dead trigger 2!

I would here go with the LG L90, not because performace is better but because of the micro SD card support that would help with larger amount of data!
Performance on the phones is actually quite similar!

CAMERA.

Camera is one of the field where smartphone companies lie the most! They say there is a 8mp or sometimes 12mp shooter but there isn't actually! The only company that stands on the Megapixel promise is Nokia! The 6.7mp shooter on the lumia 720 is far better than some of the 8mp or 12mp shooters!

Camera is the only field where Motorola tried to save some bucks by providing an average camera experience with a simplistic camera UI! The Moto g rocks a 5mp rear shooter and a 1.3mp secondary camera that is okay for occasional selfies and video calls! The camera quality on the moto g is average as you would expect and this isn't a phone if you are looking for even a decent camera! The Photos that come out of the Moto G are sometimes good if the lighting is right and the object is stable!

LG L90 reviewThe LG L90 on the other hand can capture some great photos with its 8mp rear camera and 1.3mp secondary camera! The Photos from this phone are actually quite great given the price!

In low light however you shouldn't really expect any of the two phones to perform good!

The winner as you would think here is the LG L90!

BATTERY LIFE.

Battery life is actually the one thing low end phones are good and these phones are also great power savers!

The moto g comes with a 2070mAH battery that is non removable but don't worry because this phone comes with a great battery life! The Moto G can give you a full day on heavy usage! You can get even two days if you are not a heavy user!

The LG L90 however comes with a slightly bigger battery that is 2570 mah battery life that give a slightly longer battery life than the moto g!

TO SUM UP..

To sum up, both the phones are great given the price! However Moto G is slightly cheaper( by 2.5k) but with the lg l90 , you get much better features and camera!
So, if you are okay with storage options on the moto g and camera, you can go for the moto g else the lg l90!
