Battle of the best low end devices- Nokia X vs Lumia 520!

Before the release of the Nokia X, Lumia 520 was really popular when it came to buying a phone below 10k because basically no one had any choice! But after the release of the Nokia X, the game was changed and customers started to confuse between these two! So let us find which one is the best when it comes to low end in this head to head comparison!

DESIGN

One of the high points of the Nokia Lumia 520 is the design. That's a hallmark of Nokia's Windows Phones: the entire range is interesting to look at, nice to hold and isn't afraid to use colour.
Naturally the Lumia 520 isn't quite as sophisticated in design as the other models higher up the range. There's no beautifully curved edge to the display or unibody design, but even at this budget end of the Lumia line, it feels nice to hold and of good build quality.

A unibody design in a range of bright colours is status quo at Nokia at the moment and the Nokia X trio are almost identical to the firm's latest range of Asha smartphones.

We can't really complaint in design given the price and what nokia is offering! But when we have to choose a winner, i would go with the lumia 520 with much more premium feel!

DISPLAY

The display on both the devices as you would expect is average and not that great to be frank!

The Nokia X rocks a IPS LCD 480 x 800 pixels, 4.0 inches (~233 ppi pixel density) display which is okay i would say indoors and you would feel a little left out outdoors!

On the other hand, The lumia 520 also has the same screen that is IPS LCD 480 x 800 pixels, 4.0 inches (~233 ppi pixel density) that is basically the same in every aspect!

The Edge here actually goes to the Nokia lumia 520 and i will tell why, it is because the lumia 520 supports multitouch while the Nokia X supports only two fingers at a time that is really annoying while playing games like fruit ninja or any other that requires multitouch!

STORAGE

Nokia X has a 4gb internal memory that is expendable to 32gb via micro SD card while the lumia 520 includes a 8gb internal memory that is expendable to 64gb via micro SD card!

So the Nokia lumia 520 wins here too with twice storage as the nokia x!

SOFTWARE

Software is i think is the only area where people are most confused as these two are really different in the software side!

The Nokia X comes with android 4.1.2 operating system and on top of that Nokia's highly customized skin that is the mixture of windows phone live tiles and Asha OS fastlane! The skin Nokia is not that great as you can't multitask and is  a little sluggish! The Skin on Nokia X requires a lot of power to run perfectly and i think Nokia XL will do much more good in this field! Nokia X as i used lags and takes a couple of seconds to open applications!

The Nokia Lumia 520 runs windows phone 8 which will be updated to windows phone 8.1! The Lumia 520 runs much more smoother than the nokia x in day to day usage! As I have always said, windows phone requires very little processing and hence will run lag free on low end devices!

So I would go with the Nokia lumia 520 here too as it is much more soothing to use it than nokia X!
Windows phone has now almost 250000 apps that is incredible as i see it but if you really want android, then go for nokia x!

PERFORMANCE

Nokia X runs on Qualcomm MSM8225 Snapdragon S4 Play that is Dual-core 1 GHz Cortex-A5 assisted with 512 RAM and Adreno 203! As you would think after these specs that these are not the specs that are required for android but Nokia X is not that bad when you use it! It is decent and runs okay if you are not a heavy user!

The Nokia lumia 520 surprising runs on Qualcomm MSM8227 1ghz dual core assisted with 512 RAM and Adreno 305 that is slightly better than the nokia x!

So better processor and lighter operating system! You know the winner, lumia 520! Nokia X is little bit less faster than the lumia 520 and multi tasking! Opening and closing of applications is better on the lumia 520!

CAMERA

Nokia Lumia 520 has a 5mp autofocus that is capable of recording videos up to 720p!

The nokia x rocks a 3mp manual focus camera that is capable of recording videos up to 480p!

The camera quality is way better on the nokia lumia 520! Both the cameras lag a secondary camera and flash!

The camera app is also better on the nokia lumia 520 with the nokia camera that lets control your phone's camera in a lot professional way than the nokia x!

BATTERY LIFE

Battery life has been always a strong point in the low end devices of nokia and these two are no exceptions!

The nokia lumia 520 consists of a remomable 1430 mAH battery that capable of giving you a full day on heavy usage!

While the Nokia X has a 1500mAh that is sightly better than the Lumia 520 in day to day usage!

So finally nokia x wins in the battery life! There is not much of a difference but still the nokia x is better!

TO SUM UP..

The Nokia lumia 520 as you read is better in every aspect except the battery life! So I would go with nokia lumia 520 because i don't really lags in day to day usage and it is 1K cheaper too but if you really want android apps, then go for the nokia x or wait for the nokia xl! Because you are not really going to like when your phone will be slow!

Phonesoldier Talks: 2014,The Era of the price tag of 50k+!

As we are seeing, everyday almost a new smartphone is launching with different goals and different features but in this race, the one thing that gets squashed is the customer! With the increase in the competition of smartphones, manufactures are increasing the price at a freakishly high level that one can't even think of!
I am actually talking about the price tag of 50k+ of smartphones these days! Each and every flagship we see launching in 2014 whether it is HTC's m8 or samsung galaxy s5 and even the sony xperia z2 which will most probably launch with this price tag too! So what is the way to deal with this problem? Let us find out!

The price tag of 50k+ was first brought by apple's iphone whose 32gb or 64gb variant was priced heavily above 50k! This was followed by the, iphone 5, iphone 5c and latest obviously iphone 5s!

As you know in the smartphone world, nothing remains unique for a long time, so other comapnies started to do the same beginning with the samsung galaxy note 3, nokia lumia 1020( intial price tag was 50k) etc!

So, if you are not rich and still want to experience the latest technology, you don't have any choice except selling your bike! But there is another and much more simpler way that is live in the previous generation!

That;s right, smartphone prices always go down after the new flagship is launched like the samsung galaxy s4 which is now available at 29k or the nokia lumia 1020 which is available at 37k! This things always happen to the latest flagship which will eventually get somewhat old and then the prices will be dropped!
Like i am using the last year's htc one and i love it! The reasons i love it is that it is fast, design is nice(way better than latest flagships including samsung galaxy s5) and feels great! But some people just mistake it by outdated which it is not! It is running the latest android 4.4.2!

Remember the old times when you used a phone for like 3-4 years and now after a year, you start disliking your phone and eventually buy a new phone! Instead you could buy a phone which is future proof like a google nexus which will not get outdated even after 2 years or a htc which works like a charm! If you are going to buy a samsung phone or a sony, you are going to face these problems which you should not!

So to avoid the price tag of 50k, just buy the last generation which is future proof or wait for the latest flagship's rates to cool down! If you are going to buy the latest flagship at 50k, companies will feel that you are ok with this price and eventually increase it at some point which is just severe insanity! I can't even think about spending half a lac for a phone and you shouldn't too! So spread this article and create awareness in others too!

Battle of the best androids- Moto X vs Nexus 5!

A few days back, the Moto X was launched in India and that resulted in people of twitter started comparing it with the nexus 5 already available because there is not that much price difference between these two but the moto x is still cheaper than the nexus 5 by 6k and actually i believe that's a big pro! But we are going to compare these two face to face with no price issues at all and see which is better! I did an article where the moto x was a better value for money phone, you can check that out here but we are going to see who is actually the best neglecting the price!

DESIGN.

Moto x has a really subtle, compact and handsome design for a phone with a rubberized back and is curved a little so that it fits very comfortably in hands! On the other hand, nexus 5 is a little thicker with matt finish back and is absolutely flat! This phone is actually really light and feels solid at the same time, that's a good thing! The moto x comes in a lot more color options including wooden, blue etc while the nexus 5 is limited to black and white! The design of both phones are remarkably really good but i am going to give a slight edge to the moto x because of its rounded shape that feels better than the flat body of the nexus 5!

DISPLAY.

The moto x has a 4.7inch 720p AMOLED ( 312 ppi pixel density) display which looks really nice and has great outdoor visibillity! While on the nexus 5, we have a 5inch 1080p LCD (445 ppi pixel density) display which is ultra sharp and way better than the moto x! So the nexus 5 wins here!

PERFORMANCE.

When it comes to performance, you will notice absolutely no lags in both the phones but when you compare them head to head, there's a different result!

The moto x rocks a Moto X8 chip consisting 8 cores including a 1.7ghz dual core snapdragon s4 pro processor and adreno 320 assisted with 2 more cores for voice and language recognition system! The dual core sounds pretty bad but the performance is really good and you should not underestimate it on that!
The nexus 5 on the other hand consists of a 2.3ghz quad core processor and adreno 330 which performs like a beast! The winner in this category no doubt the nexus 5! I am not saying that the moto x is bad but when you compare both the phones together, nexus 5 is a clear winner!

SOFTWARE.

On the software side, there's not much difference between these two! The Moto x runs on near pure andoid running android 4.4.2 and nexus 5 runs on pure android with the same android version!
When we talk about future updates, the nexus 5 gets a slight benefit and will receive updates a slight earlier than the moto x!

CAMERA.

The camera of both the phones are not really good and both are average performers!
But still we will decide a winner! Moto x consists of a 10MP lens with a single LED and can record videos up to 1080p! The nexus 5 has a 8MP shooter with single LED and can record videos up to 1080p!
When we talk about quality, the nexus 5 takes the points, don't get me wrong, i know there are more pixels on the moto x but the quality is still better on the nexus 5! But when we talk about shutter speed, the camera on the moto x is way faster than the nexus 5!
As I said before the quality is average and non satisfactory on both and if you love taking photographs from your phone, you should probably consider something else!

ADDITIONAL FEATURES.

Now when we talk about additional features, the moto x rules here with the touch less controls and active display! The only thing nexus 5 can do is reply with the call of "ok google" only when it is turned on! The one feature that you get on the nexus 5 is the wireless charging which is pretty helpful at times! But still the  moto x wins here!

BATTERY LIFE.

Now by reading all these stuff, you probably be wondering hows the battery life then?
There's not really difference in size as the moto x consists of a 2200 mAh battery and the nexus 5 has a 2300 mAh battery! By looking at the sizes, you would probably think, the nexus 5 will be better but i should stop you right there as the moto x wins here with much higher battery life! On moderate usage, moto x without any problem will get you a day or even more if you are a light user but on the nexus 5, you can hardly get a day out of it!

TO SUM UP..

Both the phones are awesome in their own fields, the moto x is a phone that can impress at lot more levels other than playing high end games like active display, touchless controls or even the battery life! But if you want the top notch specs and remain ahead in android updates, go for the nexus 5!
My personal choice? My personal choice will be the moto x with better features and battery life! Nexus 5 is not bad but there are some quarks that concern me and that's why my recommendation will be the moto x!

So that's it for today's article! HOPE YOU LIKED IT!

Best Mid-Range Tablets you could buy right now!

10:56 AM Posted by phonesoldier , , , No comments
I did a lot of articles on mobiles and their constituents but some of my followers ask me about tablet computers in the range of 10k or 20k! There aren't really a lot of options but there are some who could fulfill your needs at some extent! So this is about the best mid range tablets you could buy right now! Let us begin!

THE first category is from 5k to 10k! There are really very few options here actually which run lag free! The best tablet in this range is the Dell Venue 7  Android Tablet!

Comes with a 7 inch LCD IPS HD display accompanied with the 1.6 ghz dual core processor and 2gb RAM! This is actually the best you can get in this category! It also comes with a 3mp rear camera and a 0.3 mp secondary camera which actually more than enough given that the price which is almost 10k!
The android version running on this is android 4.2 jellybean!

Second category is 10k to 16k and there are really some great tablets in this range including the nexus7 (2012) , xolo play tegra note, Samsung galaxy tab 3 and many more! The winner in this category is the XOLO PLAY TEGRA NOTE! I am not recommending the NEXUS 7 because it is not available anywhere now but if you can get , that's still the best!

This beast comes with 7 inch LCD 1280 x 800 pixels which looks actually pretty awesome even in direct sunlight! Processor on this is the 1.8 GHz NVIDIA Tegra 4 - 4-PLUS-1 Cortex-A15 , with the 72 core NVIDIA GEforce which is really fast and you would face absolutely no lags even while playing high end games like the modern combat 4! Other specs include 5mp rear camera, 0.3 mp secondary camera and a stylus which is really helpful while sketching and other stuffs!

Next category is 16k to 25k and this actually getting a little premium as there are a lot more options to choose from like the ipad mini, nexus 7(2013), lenovo idea tab and the ruler of this category as you all might know is the nexus 7!

This is tablet comes with a gorgeous 7 inch 1080p display which looks ultra sharp and crisp! The processor on this is the 1.5ghz snapdragron s4 quad core processor accompanied with the 2gb RAM which lets this device run without any lags what so ever! Other notable features include quick updates, 5mp rear camera, 1.2 mp secondary camera and much more! price tag of this tablet starts from 19k and the 3g version is of 27k!

So that was it for the mid range tablets! Let me know if you want a article on premium tablets!

Best mid range smartphone to buy right now!

4:07 PM Posted by phonesoldier , , , No comments
Best mid range smartphone to buy right now!

So, there are lot of people asking me on twitter about which is the best mid range smartphone to buy right now! So here it is!

The category of mid range is actually quite confusing as you don't get all the features even after spending 20k! But there are some phones who could actually fulfill your basic needs! I divided this category into three subcategories that is phone priced around 10k, 15k and 20k!

So first is around 10k, and I am not including Nokia XL as it is not launched yet but if you read my previous post, you may know that why buying a low end windows phone is worth it! So the best phone at 10k is the Nokia lumia 525! Comes with awesome Nokia features and absolutely No lags! 1gb ram lets you play all high end games like asphalt 8 or modern combat 4! There are some XOLO phones like q800 but they have the same   problems I mentioned In my micromax canvas knight post!

The next category is 15k! Now a lot of you guys know about Moto g but i am not going to recommend it as lot of people still don't use sites like flipkart or eBay for shopping but if you do go for it!

So my recommendation at 15k for those who don't use online shopping is Lenovo s820! Comes with a 1.2ghz quad core processor, 1gb ram and a surprising 12mp camera! Little bit costly at 16k but worth it!

The next is price point is 20k! And there a lot of great smartphones at that price, so I am going to recommend 2 of them! First is the sony xperia SP , I am not going with the xperia c because of it's mediatek processor! Xperia sp comes with 1.7 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro,Adreno 320 and 1gb ram which is sufficient for a normal user!

Another phone that is great at a little costlier price at 21k is the Nokia lumia 1320! Comes with the same processor and ram but with windows phone, the experience is enhanced a lot and you could enjoy the benefit of a phablet too with 6inch screen!

So those were the best mid range smartphones that work without any issues in day to day usage! Hope you liked it!
