Blackberry is the largest phone manufacturer and right now is getting behind the race, a lot behind!
After the release of blackberry 10, A lot of people thought it is going to change everything including me but it didn't and i don't think it is all because of the store! Windows phone started slow too but it is doing not that bad! It is the involvement of blackberry, Windows worked really hard to make windows phone what it is today and after the windows phone 8.1, it is much more mature operating system! But what Blackberry did was that it allowed android applications side loading! Blackberry didn't bring his own involvement, they just solved the problem by allowing android apps and it is good actually for the blackberry users but not for blackberry itself!
After the blackberry 10.2.1 update, this became much more easier for users to side load android apps and the update brought even more improvements but nothing significant, just fixed small quarks! Side loading of android apps is not the easy on blackberry, some apps won't work at all, some crash, some bring viruses that can make your phone stop and some just require multiple permissions from google that won't on blackberry!
Next thing Blackberry did wrong was releasing BBM on other operating systems! I think BBM was the only reason people were even considering blackberry! It was the stupidest decision by blackberry! By this action, many developers thought that blackberry was losing interest in their smartphone business so they backed off!
I think blackberry has still a long way to go before it can master the smartphone market as of now! Blackberry should improve its own app store and bring much more high quality apps! They should focus on their OS and not on how to face customers complaints that they fixed just by allowing android apps!
